SUMMARY:BIOEAST Science-Policy Dialogue: Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming in Forestry Sector
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE: 29 JUNE 2026\n \nThe Forestry Value Chain Thematic Working Group of the BIOEAST Initiative ( https://bioeast.eu/ ), in the frame of the BOOST4BIOEAST ( https://bioeast.eu/ ) project, will host an online science-policy dialogue on 29 June 2026, from 13:00 to 15:00 (CEST).\n \nThe focus of this online event is on the position of the forestry sector in the voluntary framework of carbon removals and carbon farming (CRCF) according to the Regulation (EU) 2024/3012 adopted by the European Commission (EC). Planned is a presentation of the general CRCF process and the forest-related methodologies, including harvested wood products. The discussion is expected on issues related to forest companies interested in entering the carbon market, storing carbon in wood products, options for certification, implications for forest management, associated opportunities, risks, costs, and benefits.\n \nCRCF play a central role in achieving EU climate neutrality by extracting CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it safely and durably.
