Short description:

AGRIFORVALOR will close the research and innovation divide by connecting practitioners
from agriculture and forestry with research and academia as well as with associations and
clusters, bio-industry, policy makers; business support organizations, innovation agencies and
technology transfer intermediaries in multi-actor innovation partnership networks in order to
valorize and exploit sidestream biomass resources from agriculture and forestry.
The project establishes 3 multi-actor networks which will be managed by three Biomass
Innovation Design Hubs, piloted in Spain (Andalucia), in Hungary and Ireland. In each of
these hubs, existing research results and good practices on valorization of biomass
sidestreams from agro and forest will be shared and matched with the specific needs and
potentials, new grass-roots ideas collected and developed and dedicated innovation support
applied to further deploy selected topics which are dealt with by multi-actor innovation
partnership groups. Here, practical support in the exploitation of promising research results is
complemented by assistance in business (model) development – with a tailored mix of
innovation support tools offered to individual subjects.
Strategic networking and knowledge sharing is of crucial importance for innovation.
Understanding on how innovation partnership networks can become more effective and
supportive to farmers and foresters by using and further developing evidence based
innovation tools to enhance exploitation and grass-root idea generation for biomass
sidestream valorization is crucial in the frame of AGRIFORVALOR.
In order to achieve a final innovation toolbox primarily directed to farmers and foresters a 3
step approach was carried out consisting of:
1. step) Development of a set of pre-select innovation tools (Annex 2: Pre-selected
Innovation Tool box)
2. step) Evaluation of pre-selected innovation tools and tools for forthcoming project activities
through Quality Check Questionnaires collected at project events (Annex 4: Hub launches –
Quality Check questionnaires used ) – as iterative step – leading to a set of selected
innovation tools
3. step) All evaluated innovation tools used during the project will be explained in a Final
innovation toolbox
This deliverable takes into account the feedback on the effectiveness/appropriateness of the
pre-selected innovation tools used at the hub launch meetings and those which are foreseen
in future project activities as an example of step 2 of the approach.
At the hub launches primarily tools related to “motivation creation” where used, like
moderated specific topics, best practice reports, networking sessions and discussions. As
conclusion, on all feedback received from hub launch participants, a tailored mix of innovation
tools promoting face-to-face interactions and online tools (like sidestream value tool)
shall be offered in the next workshops.
