Short description:

This document reports the selection of tools for the valuation exercises to be carried out within Work
Package 4 WP4-“Improved valuation of public goods” in the context of the EU Horizon 2020 project PROVIDE
(PROVIding smart DElivery of public goods by EU agriculture and forestry), and the adaptation of the
valuation approaches chosen to be implemented to the different case study regions (CSRs) considered. In
particular, Deliverable D4.1 aims at describing how Tasks 4.1 and 4.2 have been addressed. As stated in the
DoA, Task 4.1 consists in the selection of the most adequate valuation and scale approaches for the most
relevant public goods (PGs) and bads (PBs) (PGBs when referred to both PGs and PBs) provided by agricultural
and forestry systems (AFS), while Task 4.2 consists in the adaptation of valuation approaches chosen to
different local conditions. This must be done for both demand-side (benefits) and supply-side (costs)
valuation assessments. Logically, the way Task 4.1 and 4.2 are addressed will very much determine the
valuation implementation (Task 4.3), the analysis of determinants of value (Task 4.4) and of value
transferability (Task 4.5).
