EU Launches Biotech and Biomanufacturing Hub to Boost Innovation

The European Commission has launched a new Biotech and Biomanufacturing Hub to support innovative companies, particularly start-ups and SMEs, in bringing cutting-edge products to the EU market. The initiative aims to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness and facilitate access to funding, research infrastructure, and regulatory guidance.
Hosted on the Your Europe portal, the Hub provides clear and accessible information on EU funding opportunities, intellectual property rights, regulatory requirements, and support networks such as the Enterprise Europe Network. It also offers guidance on authorizing biotech products, including medicines and food ingredients.
As one of the fastest-growing industries in Europe, biotechnology is expected to play a crucial role in advancing health, agriculture, and sustainable manufacturing. The Hub is a key part of the EU’s Strategy to Boost Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing, first announced in March 2024, and will be continuously developed with the support of SME advisors.
