BIOEAST Science-Policy Dialogue on Bio-Based Materials
From Demonstration to Deployment: Bridging the Scale-up Gap for Bio-based Materials in the BIOEAST Region
Promising bio-based materials are being developed across Europe, but many innovations still struggle to move from laboratory and pilot scale to industrial deployment.
This Science-Policy Dialogue will explore what holds bio-based innovations back from reaching the market and what can help them move forward. The discussion will focus on key challenges related to scale-up and demonstration infrastructure, investment and financing, industrial integration, regulation, cost competitiveness, and market uptake.
Drawing on practical experiences from European projects and industry, the dialogue will discuss how technology developers, companies and policymakers can work together to reduce scale-up risks and create better conditions for industrial adoption.
Particular attention will be given to the BIOEAST macro-region and to policy measures that can strengthen its capacity not only to develop promising bio-based technologies, but also to scale up, manufacture and deploy them in the region.
The dialogue will bring together policymakers, industry representatives, technology developers, researchers and other bioeconomy stakeholders.
The event will be held online and in English.
