Thematic Study of the Freshwater TWG: Surface waters – maintaining at least good water quality and biodiversity. 2022

The main objectives of the thematic study were to (1) analyze the current situation of the ecological status/potential and chemical status of surface water bodies and groundwater bodies in the eleven BIOEAST countries, (2) describe the Region´s potential, tools, risks and barriers, and (3) suggest a possible opportunity of implementation plan for the fresh water based bioeconomy in the respective value chains. The study contributed to the BIOEAST Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of 2022.
