Science Policy Dialogue: Making agroecology practices economically attractive
Incentives, barriers, and market-development
The Agroecology Thematic Working Group of the BIOEAST Initiative , in the frame of the BOOST4BIOEAST project, will host an online science-policy dialogue on 30 June 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 (CEST).
The session will focus on how organic and agroecology practices can become more economically attractive and viable through innovative farmer business models, supportive policies, and market-based solutions. The discussion will address the main economic, regulatory, and market-related barriers in the BIOEAST macro-region that currently limit the wider uptake of organic and agroecological practices, while also exploring possible incentives and enabling conditions for transition. Particular attention will be given to consumer behaviour, showcasing business model best practices and the role of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and other policy instruments in supporting agroecological farming systems.
The dialogue is specifically targeted to policymakers, experts, researchers and value chain actors from the BIOEAST macro-region, but other interested international stakeholders are welcome to join. The dialogue will be held in English.
