The relevant indicators and statistical data collected within the preceding activities of the BIOEASTsUP project, disclosed the current status of bioeconomy within the Central and Eastern European (CEE) member states and identified five key challenges, which hinder the region’s performance and require strategic action.
Recent BIOEASTsUP survey “Bioeconomy-related assets and transition pathways” organized from December 3, 2020 to March 6, 2021, targeted nationally recognized experts with sector-specific industrial and/ or R&D background to provide country-specific informed judgements on the key assets affecting the bioeconomy potential and the plausible bioeconomy sector-specific transformation pathways. Altogether, 318 experts from all BIOEAST countries participated in the survey, providing 686 sector-specific inputs.
The survey findings will allow a comprehensive expert assessment of the state of the bioeconomy and forecasts of its development in the BIOEAST countries. They will be integrated into the project Deliverable, titled Bioeconomy institutional profiles – comparative analysis, benchmarking and policy recommendations, which will be formally submitted in end-April 2021.
