BIOEAST UniNet Conference Announces New Presidency and Strategic Initiatives

The BIOEAST UniNet conference convened stakeholders from across the network to discuss pivotal updates, elect a new presidency, and chart the course for future collaborations. Hosted by BIOEAST HUB CR, the event featured presentations, interactive discussions, and strategic planning for the bioeconomy sector.

The agenda commenced with a warm welcome and introductions, setting the tone for an engaging program. Highlights included a presentation on the network’s achievements over its two-year journey, insights into the ICA-CoP initiative by Simon Heath, and updates on the BEAMING project. A key focus was the introduction of a new governance model, culminating in a unanimous vote to elect the University of Zagreb as the next BIOEAST UniNet president, followed by the University of Novi Sad and Vytautas Magnus University in subsequent terms.

Significant initiatives were proposed under the new presidency, including online seminars on sustainable education and entrepreneurship, a dedicated summer 2025 school in Greece, and collaborative opportunities for BIOEAST UniNet members in upcoming events.

The conference also emphasized fostering interdisciplinary education, industry collaboration, and lifelong learning. Presentations by the European Bioeconomy University Alliance (EBU) and the Association for European Life Science Universities  showcased innovative approaches to bioeconomy education and research, aligning with BIOEAST UniNet’s mission to drive sustainable development.

Looking ahead, BIOEAST UniNet aims to enhance its impact through mobility programs like CEEPUS, strategic partnerships with organizations such as the European Bioeconomy University, and a collaborative governance model that ensures active participation from all members.
