BOOST4BIOEAST becomes BIOEASTWIDE: a new chapter for the BIOEAST Initiative begins

Today, 1 October 2026, marks the official launch of BIOEASTWIDE, a new Horizon Europe-funded project that will support the BIOEAST Initiative in achieving its goals for the years ahead.

BIOEASTWIDE is the successor to BOOST4BIOEAST, and it does more than pick up where its predecessor leaves off: it broadens the scope, deepens the ambition, and widens the partnership behind it. Bringing together a consortium of 29 partners from across Europe and neighbouring regions, the project will strengthen research and innovation in the bioeconomy across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and reinforce its integration into the European Research Area (ERA).

For the next three months (October–December 2026), BOOST4BIOEAST and BIOEASTWIDE will run in parallel, ensuring continuity for the community, partners and stakeholders who have built the BIOEAST Initiative together over the past years.

Over its 36-month duration, BIOEASTWIDE will focus on improving governance, increasing the participation of CEE countries in EU research and innovation programmes, and driving innovation in areas such as sustainable biomass valorisation, soil and water resilience, and food systems — acting as a catalyst for a fair, inclusive and sustainable bioeconomy transition across the region.

Stay tuned as we share more about the project’s activities, partners and opportunities to get involved in the coming weeks.
