The BIOEAST Initiative is organising a clustering workshop for fresh water-related projects in Brussels on 19 March 2024. The event aims to underscore the criticality of fresh water-related issues, foster collaboration among projects and initiatives, and bolster the involvement of policymakers in scaling up activities.
WHY IS FRESH WATER IMPORTANT FOR THE BIOEAST COUNTRIES?
Fresh water plays a pivotal role in the BIOEAST countries, where production lines heavily rely on this vital resource. However, the implementation of fresh water-related initiatives encounters numerous challenges due to the involvement of multiple ministries and entities. In response, the BIOEAST Initiative, along with its Thematic Working Group on Fresh Water Based Bioeconomy, seeks to deepen discussions, engage a wide range of stakeholders, and cluster fresh water-related projects to support the EU Mission’s objectives.
The clustering event, modelled after the Project2Project event, aims to connect fresh water-related projects, foster collaboration among experts, facilitate stakeholder engagement, share experiences and challenges, and unite efforts in open calls. Targeted participants include project coordinators and teams developing international projects financed by the Danube Lighthouse of the EU Water Mission, the Water4All partnership, INTERREG Danube, national programmers, and organisations from the BIOEAST macro-region.
The clustering workshop follows the trajectory set forth during the High-Level Conference involving the BIOEAST Initiative in the Implementation of the EU Mission: To Restore Our Oceans and Waters by 2030, organised during the Czech EU Presidency in Prague in December 2022.
WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM THE CLUSTERING WORKSHOP?
The event focuses on four thematic and three horizontal topics, aiming to:
• Discuss synergies among projects and act as a brokerage event to facilitate networking between project partners.
• Foster collaboration and establish a common approach to stakeholder engagement activities.
• Highlight the importance of freshwater topics and support the involvement of policymakers in replicating and scaling up project results.
