BIOEAST Thematic Working Groups (TWGs)
The BIOEAST Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) are specialised networks established to support the work of the BIOEAST
Governing Board at the macro-regional level. They focus on specific strategic areas of the bioeconomy, and their primary role is
to organise science-policy dialogues and prepare key documents, particularly the thematic Strategic Research and Innovation
Agendas (SRIAs).
Mission
The mission of the TWGs is to serve as the macro-region’s consultative engine, transforming expert knowledge into political action. By synchronising research priorities with National Action Plans, the TWGs ensure that the BIOEAST bioeconomy is not just theoretically advanced, but practically implemented. Our goal is to foster a unified science-policy ecosystem where cross-border collaboration directly fuels regional sustainability, innovation, and long-term economic resilience.
There are currently seven active TWGs driving collaboration across the macro-region, discover them below.
