Synergy workshop of ROSEWOOD Network, GoDanuBio and BIOEAST & BIOEASTsUP organised in Centar kompetencija d.o.o. za istraživanje i razvoj – Value chain: Forest and wood

In Vukovar-Srijem Countys’ Competence Centre, Forest and wood value chain workshop was held on 6th of April 2022. Workshop was organised by Vukovar-Srijem Countys’ Competence Centre and ROSEWOOD4.0 (Horizon2020), GoDanuBio (INTERREG V-B Danube 2014-2020) and BIOEASTsUP (Horizon2020) projects.

Workshop was attended by 37 experts and representatives from forestry and wood industry, ICT, science and education sectors and regional and local government. Main topic of the workshop was transition of the Republic of Croatia to a circular bioeconomy system. Circular bioeconomy concept is used as a tool for support that can induce regional development and transition of economy towards the use of bio resources in sustainable production and environmental protection.

Ana Dijan from Croatian Wood Cluster presented GoDanuBio project, Biljana Kulisic from Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar presented BIOEASTsUP project and Centar kompetencija d.o.o. za istraživanje i razvoj director Ivan Ambroš presented achieved goals and results of ROSEWOOD4.0 project.

Project ROSEWOOD4.0 EU Network of Regions On Sustainable Wood Mobilisation ready for Digitalisation is funded by the EU Research and Innovation Programme, HORIZON 2020, brings together 21 project partners from 18 Europe countries in 5 regional HUBS for sustainable wood mobilisation. South East Europe HUB is focused on countries Croatia, Greece and Slovenia and partners Vukovar-Srijem Countys’ Centar kompetencija d.o.o. za istraživanje i razvoj, The Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia and Slovenian Forestry Institute. Within the project framework Massive open online courses (MOOC) was presented and 459 best practices and innovations are collected.

In the framework of Danube Transnational Programme, the GoDanuBio project is implemented – Participative ecosystems for fostering the revitalization of rural-urban cooperation through governing Danube Circular Bioeconomy. Lead partner is BIO-PRO Baden-Württemberg which main activity is bioeconomy, biotechnology and social and health care sector. Main goals of the project are strengthening of institutional capacities of national/regional bodies through cooperation of multi levels of management and existing national and regional strategies with aim to creating common pilot-projects in bioeconomy area and integration of stakeholders in participatory systems.

The Central-Eastern European Initiative for Knowledge-based Agriculture, Aquaculture and Forestry in the Bioeconomy – BIOEAST – offers a common political commitment and shared strategic research and innovation framework for working towards sustainable bioeconomy in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Project BIOEASTsUP is funded by the EU Research and Innovation Programme, HORIZON 2020.
